Eighty-five people have been arrested at Alicante-Elche airport by the National Police in the first three months of 2017, according to official figures published last weekend.

The main reason for the detentions were fake passports and identification documents, followed by people wanted on international or Spanish arrest warrants.

That included a 35-year-old Algerian man who was wanted on robbery charges, after stealing from tourists who were picking up their hire cars at the airport.
