Torrevieja’s popular four-day Feria de Sevillanas, which was scheduled to start on Wednesday May 10th, has been postponed. It’s down to a delay in awarding a contract to a winning bidder to run the fair, with Torrevieja council having to admit that the traditional May event might have to be shunted to June.
Torrevieja’s fiestas councillor Domingo Pérez says that the fair will definitely happen, but it will be delayed due to the winning tender for the 94-thousand-euro contract not yet being selected. That’s despite posters promoting the major tourist event having already been published by the council, with Pérez insisting that everything had to be done legally over the tender.
The councillor said the event might still happen in May, but accepted that June is a distinct possibility. Pérez added that a number of companies were involved in the bids to run the event, but did not shine any light on why things have been delayed so seriously, leading to the fair having to be postponed.
