Listen to this articleThe record set by Avilés smashed the previous holder, Metepec in Mexico, which attracted just under nine and a half thousand diners, with last Monday’s lunch in Avilés lasting just 45 minutes. Documentation will now be sent to the Guinness Book of Records in the hope of having the meal officially ratified as a world record.
