Syrian Refugees Arrive in Spain

A total of 56 Syrian refugees have arrived in Spain from Turkey in compliance with the National Resettlement Program, as reported by the Interior Ministry.

They will be welcomed in Sevilla (7), Malaga (25), Valladolid (5), Barcelona (11) and Murcia (8).

Of the 56 refugees who have arrived today in Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, 10 are men, 13 women and 33 are children.

Spain has played host to 1,292 applicants for international protection, of which 886 have been via relocation and 406 by resettlement.

The Spanish System Reception and Integration of applicants / beneficiaries of international protection offers its beneficiaries stay in a reception centre subsidized by the government, in which housing is guaranteed, along with support, legal assistance, counseling, social care, accompaniment to public school, health and social centres, language learning and basic social skills, plus vocational training and reemployment, cultural and economic aid.
