Neighbours raised the alarm on Thursday, concerned that they hadn´t seen the 75-year old Dutch national, and so officers attended his home, where they found him locked inside experiencing a “very serious sugar rush”.

The officers forced entry into the property and found the man motionless and semi-conscious on a sofa, suffering paralysis to the left-hand side of his face.

A Cruz Roja ambulance transferred him to Santa Pola health centre, from where he was referred to Elche Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
