Fire fighters rescued two British youths who were hiking on the Montgó Mountain in Dénia (Alicante) on Wednesday. The boys have started to feel unwell and had been left without water and unable to keep walking. A helicopter and ground crews were dispatched to located and rescue the boys, who were taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, the Guardia Civil rescued two women and three men (aged between 20 and 23) on Wednesday night, after they became lost whilst hiking in the mountains del Cid, located between the municipalities of Petrel and Monforte del Cid. The group had become disorientated after walking several hours without finding the way back to where they had left their vehicles and so called for help at around 22:00. Through the geolocation of their mobile phones, they identified the location of the group, an area where it was impossible to access by car, and so found them on foot before escorting them back to safety, unharmed.

A 36-year-old French man has been arrested at Alicante-Elche airport, after he was found to be posing as a car hire operative who would then offer assistance to travellers with their luggage, giving him the opportunity to then rob them of their belongings. The man used forged documents to try to evade identification.

A man in Elche is feeling relieved after a passer-by handed in his lost suitcase to the police. The suitcase contained 6,500 euro in cash, as well as various important documents. After the police located the rightful and relieved owner, a promise to “gratify” the finder was made.
