The incident occurred at around 18:30 near the La Paz service station in Sangonera la Seca.

At least a dozen vehicles were involved, in which the four people were killed and others injured.

The emergency coordination centre immediately dispatched fire fighters, medics and the Guardia Civil to the scene, along with the local police who stressed the “seriousness” of the incident and warned other road users to find alternate routes, as the crash caused considerable delays whilst the rescue and subsequent clean-up operations took place.
