What are the chances of popping down to your local supermarket or bar or heading off for an evening stroll along the nearest beach and bumping into one of the most famous people on the planet? Very slim for the majority of us, unless, that is, you happen to live in Ibiza.
Known for its hedonistic party atmosphere between the months of June and September and being the playground for the very rich and famous, this beautiful ‘white’ island, which makes up part of the Balearics, has captured the hearts of more celebrities than any other part of the country, so much so that a large number of them have ended up buying their own property on the island, which is where they generally spend much their time off throughout the year.
And, let’s face it, while these personalities are not deemed ‘ordinary’ folk like us, neither are the villas that become their sanctuary while they reside in Spain.
Much of Spain’s coastal areas is where you will find large concentrations of stunning villas and jaw-droppingly expensive mansions, yet Ibiza is the territory that has more mansions owned by famous people per square metre than any other part of Spain.
So, who are the global A-listers that you’re most likely to spot going about their day-to-day business in popular areas such as Sant Josep de Sa Talaia, Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza Town, Talamanca, Cala Jondal, Can Botino or Can Rimbau?
Well, many of them belong to the world of sport, modelling or music and include names such as José María Gutiérrez, ex-Real Madrid star, David Villa, Shakira and Gerard Piqué, Elle McPherson, superstar DJ David Guetta, Rafael Nadal, Jade Jagger and Zinedine Zidane.
And, if you’re lucky enough to visit the island during the summer, the list of celebrities that you could bump into is endless.
