Costa Blanca Airport Passenger Numbers Up 1.5%

The Costa Blanca´s main air hub, Alicante-Elche Airport welcomed 1,307,789 passengers through its doors in May, an increase of 1.5% compared to the same month of 2017.

There were a total of 549,561 people to or from the UK, with domestic travellers from within Spain in second place, with 128,869 passengers, The Netherlands, with 86,231; Germany, with 78,684; Norway, with 76,188, and Belgium, with 62,231 passengers.

There were a total of 8,944 flights in May, a slight decrease of 1% compared to the same month of the previous year, despite the increase in passengers.

The most numerous flights by nationalities were those that connected with the United Kingdom, with 3,310 operations; Spain, with 1,412 operations; The Netherlands, with 545 operations; Germany, with 484 operations; Norway, with 457 operations; Belgium, with 395 operations, and France, with 309 operations.

As for the first five months of the year, Alicante-Elche Airport recorded a total of 4,905,951 travellers, which implies an increase of 2.3% over the same period of 2017. There were 34,693 flights, 0.1% more than the previous year.
