In the first five months of this year a total of 3,167 landing and take-off operations were recorded, 9.3% more than in the same period of 2017.

In May, a total of 139,775 passengers used the Murcia-San Javier Airport facilities, 4.7% more than in the same month of the previous year, and 980 operations were managed between landings and takeoffs.

These figures mean that the Murcia-San Javier Airport has accumulated 20 consecutive months of growth in the number of passengers, all of which will be transferred to the larger facilities at Corvera, once operational.

Meanwhile, the Spanish airports authority, AENA, has carried out verification tests of the radio-aids systems and the navigation procedures at the new International Airport of the Region of Murcia (AIRM).

AENA says that the tests are an essential part of ensuring that both the manoeuvres and the aerial navigation assistance systems installed on the ground (radio aids) work correctly and in accordance with the regulations of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and, therefore, they can be used by all aircraft that perform an instrumental flight.

The calibration was carried out by a Beechcraft King Air 350, equipped with a flight verification console, from the Flight Verification Unit of Aena Internacional, and by the use of drones. In total, 27 hours of flying was required to satisfy the calibration and testing needs.
