Crashed Fire Fighting Plane Found in Sea
A search and rescue operation launched on Tuesday to find a missing fire fighting plane near the island of Mallorca has found the aircraft and the body of the pilot.
During the operation, two mine sweepers from of the Spanish, both with powerful sonars capable of tracking deep waters such as those in the northeast of Mallorca, took part in the search, along with aircraft from Getaffe and San Javier air bases.
The missing plane was located in the sea, about 60 metres under water, with sources close to the search confirming the death of 46-year-old Antoni Alfaro.
Antonio Alfaro did surveillance work for his fifth season in the Islands. In his career he clocked up more than 1,300 flight hours with experience in Spain and Chile.
