‘Hugging’ Robberies on the Increase
Police across Spain are issuing repeated warnings that there has been in increase in the number of street robberies committed through the process known as ‘hugging’.
Municipal police in Pamplona were the first to issue the reminders after an elderly victim reported how a young woman approached him, pretending to know him and, whilst giving him a hug, stole a gold chain from around his neck.
This form of robbery is well known, but it is also far too easy to fall victim to it, hence the warnings to be aware and alert so as not to become a victim of crime without even realising it at first.
