Many of us expats living in Spain may have recently watched the Martin Lewis Money Show talking about getting the best investment returns – I know I did.

All very good information and an excellent source should you be fiscally resident in the UK, which most of my readers will no longer be.Martin Lewis has become so popular in giving what basically is common sense advice in running day-to-day finances and using the Internet to promote this information.

I chose to be a highly qualified specialist in financial planning, helping people make the best choices with significant decisions regarding their financial planningneeds/objectives – I too follow that common sense approach – all that I have missing, though, is being as popular on ‘social media’ as Martin clearly is. Maybe I have a face for radio – don’t know.

I am Keith Littlewood, a Regional Manager for Blacktower Financial Management (International) Ltd. We are Independent Financial Advisers here to help you with your financial planning requirements and get the most out of your hard-earned money now that you are an expat.

So, what is available here in Spain? We cannot open a series of bank accounts and switch on a regular basis, rate chasing, as we do not fit the qualification rules for ISAs and UK Banks. Spanish bank accounts do offer some very good short-term deals and you can often pick up a free TV by signing up, but you end up paying for it through extortionate charges and the lack of interest offered, and then there are usually terms that are pointed out so clearly in the small print, which means you are tied into what turns out to be an uncompetitive product.

My clients are usually looking for growth and/or income from their investments and there are some very good tax-efficient products available. Spanish Compliant Bonds are available that allow for you to take upto 5% as a regular withdrawal for income seekers. If it is growth that is required, then these same Spanish Compliant Bonds allow gross roll up of your returns, which means no tax is deducted during the term or until withdrawals are made; this can make a significant difference to the profits achieved.  There are several large institutions that offer Spanish Compliant Bonds and if you want more information, I can make this available to you. Whatever your Investment Risk Appetite, these Spanish Tax Compliant Bonds are available for the cautious investor as well as those who wish to speculate a little in order to enhance opportunity of a better return.

In today’s financial climate, it is essential you do everything you can to make sure your money is safe and secure and what you want to transpire in the future has the best chance of happening. If you need advice or if have any questions regarding the above, you can contact me, Keith Littlewood DipPFS, on 657 684 094or email keith.littlewood@blacktowerfm.com
