The woman, a Spaniard aged 34 and living in Torrevieja, had phoned her relatives to say goodbye. They in turn called the Guardia Civil who arrived at the home, forced entry, and found the woman hanging by the neck from a ceiling fan in one of the rooms.

The officers noticed she had blue lips and bluish complexion, and immediately grabbed her to ease the pressure on her neck, whilst another attempted to untie the sheet.

After releasing the woman they practiced CPR on the ground where the woman managed to recover vital signs and was taken to hospital by medical staff.

The officers have been praised for their rapid intervention which saved the life of the woman who will now be treated at Torrevieja hospital.
