Officers from the Guardia Civil are investigating a 19-year-old resident of Torrevieja for a crime against road safety, after he took to social media bragging about driving at 240 kilometres per hour.
The Spanish national allegedly posted a video on social media showing his BMW vehicle travelling at 230 kilometres per hour on the A-35 motorway as it passes through Vallada in the Valencia province.
The video, which was recorded by somebody else in the vehicle, went viral and was seen be officers from the Local Police in Torrevieja, who identified the male, “without a doubt”, as he had been arrested on a number of occasions for other offences.
The Local Police officers brought the facts to the attention of the Guardia Civil, who immediately began to locate the driver and vehicle.
Investigators were also able to identify the precise road where the footage was filmed, and identify elements which would allow them to calculate the exact speed and location.
