Nine Arrests in ‘Speed’ Drug Bust
Officers from the Guardia Civil have confiscated 52 litres of base oil which, once treated, would have become 200 kilos of ‘speed’.
The operation has resulted in nine people being arrested in Bilbao, Burgos, Cuenca, Madrid and Torrevieja.
The investigation started six months ago when investigators became aware of regular shipments of Dorga being made from the Netherlands to the north of Spain, destined for a laboratory which would treat the oil and prepare it for distribution.
Many of the shipment were hidden within legally registered and transported items, such as flowers.
The volatile and odourless oil is insoluble in water and then crystallises as dust, which is then developed for distribution as an amphetamine.
In addition to the oil, during eleven raids on properties, 45,000 euro in cash, five vehicles, several telephones, laptops and documents have been seized in the raids, along with a simulated weapon, with one person arrested in Madrid, four in Burgos, four in Bilbao, one in Cuenca and one in Torrevieja.
