Prosecution Looking for 35 years for Attempting to Kill Wife and Son
A British man living in Denia (Alicante) faces 35 years in prison for trying to kill his wife and her son, after having allegedly mistreating them for at least a decade.
Th defendant, a British man, and the woman were married in 2004 and in 2016 the family settled in Denia. According to reports by the prosecutor, the defendant submitted to the wife and son to constant humiliations, insults and threats over a period of 10 years.
From 2016, the abuse became physical, with pushing, hair pulling or punching.
On April 16, 2017, when the son, 20, was sleeping in one of the rooms of the house, the accused entered the room with a hammer and hit him several times in the head. When the mother came to the defence of the victim, the man grabbed her hair and tried to hit her with the same hammer.
The public prosecutor requested a sentence of 35 years in prison for a crime of attempted murder, one of attempted murder, three counts of abuse and two threats.
The Alicante Provincial Court will judges the case on Thursday.
