Arrest after Baby Abandoned

A 24-year-old Honduran national has been arrested in connection with the abandonment of a 3-day-old baby on a street in the town.

The woman, said to be the mother of the baby, was arrested in San Javier by the Guardia Civil on Thursday.

The baby was found on Wednesday afternoon by a member of the public who alerted the 112 Emergency Coordination Centre just after 15:00.

The Local Police attended the scene and confirmed the baby was located on calle Las Cortes, followed by an ambulance who took the baby to the paediatric unit of the Los Arcos del Mar Menor University General Hospital, although the baby girl was in apparent good health.
