ABOUT THE MEGA MILLIONS LOTTERY

After exciting growth of the game in 1997, a Tuesday drawing was added to Mega Millions in February 1998. Players were given a larger choice of numbers and a “cash payout” option in January 1999. In May 1999, New Jersey became the seventh member state.

In May 2002, the multi-state game was given the new name of “Mega Millions,” New York and Ohio became member states, and the game matrix and prize amounts were changed to offer players more excitement.

In September 2002, Washington became the 10th member state, followed by Texas in December 2003. In June 2005, California became the 12th member, solidifying Mega Millions as the country’s most widely played multi-state jackpot game.

On March 6, 2007, Mega Millions again made history with a jackpot of $390 million – setting the record for the largest jackpot in North America.

SMOKING LAW WILL NOT BE CHANGED FOR EUROVEGAS

No smoking in Eurovegas

The government of Spain has said that there are currently no plans to change the law relating to smoking, which prohibits the consumption of tobacco in all enclosed public places.

The answer was a direct response to a parliamentary question relating to previous considerations given to allowing smoking in the Eurovegas casino, as they were more concerned over investment opportunities over health, following meetings between the President of the Government, Mariano Rajoy and American tycoon, Sheldon Adelson, in late May

In a written reply to a question by the party spokesperson of the UPyD, Rosa Díez, the executive said, “At present the Government is not planning any proposal for the purpose of amending the law 42/2010”, and that the Government, through the Ministry of Health,””has the promotion of citizens’ health and the prevention of diseases caused by smoking as a priority”.

MAN JAILED FOR SOUTHAMPTON AIRPORT SMUGGLING ATTEMPT

A 44-year-old man has been jailed for 12 months years after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle approximately five kilos of cannabis into the UK.

The drugs had an estimated street value of £60,000.

Southampton Crown Court heard that on 6 May 2013 Border Force officers at Southampton International Airport stopped Nicholas GILES who had arrived on a flight from Malaga.

Before officers searched his baggage Giles admitted to having five kilos of “weed” in his suitcase. The case was opened and the drugs could be seen wrapped in clear plastic.

Giles was arrested and charged and he pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates Court on 12 August and was sentenced in the Crown Court today.

Malcolm Bragg, from Border Force said:

“Our officers play an important role in protecting the public and work hard to make sure drugs are not smuggled into the country.

“Drug trafficking is a serious offence and those convicted will face prison sentences. The message to anyone tempted to get involved is clear. We will catch you and you will pay with your liberty.”

Anyone with information about activity they suspect may be linked to smuggling should call the hotline on 0800 59 5000.
