As part of the 125th anniversary celebrations of the town a Spanish Air force flight simulator is to be sited opposite the Yacht Club of Santiago de la Ribera on both the 24 and 25 July. It is being provided courtesy of the General Air Academy

The simulator allows its users to feel at first hand the sensations experienced by Eagle Patrol pilots who train at the local base and it’s appearance will coincide with an Eagle Patrol exercise which will be visible from the beaches of Santiago de la Ribera on the morning of the 24th.

Up to 700 people will be able to try out the simulator on each day, to experience the stunts and thrills as a member of an aerobatics team aboard a CASA C-101 aircraft during an air show.

Without getting off the ground, the capsule can accommodate up to 14 people in ergonomically designed seats with an unobstructed view of a large screen that displays

visual images associated with the movement of the device.

A spokesman said that “the sensations experienced by people who are lucky to access the Flight Simulator, are the closest experience to what happens at an aerobatic display as a member of an Air Force team.”

The first appearance of this simulator, which has its origins in aerospace simulation, took place on 30 May, 2010 in Badajoz, on the occasion of the celebration of Armed Forces Day. In that year it attended more than 30 events, a number that it exceeded in 2011 and 2012 with a further 65.
