VERA CITY COUNCIL SAVE € 54,000 P.A. ON TELECOMS

Signing the agreement

Vera Council will save save more than 54,000 euros per annum on their telecommunications bill during the next three years. The Ayuntamiento has signed a contract with Telefonica, which will provide all the required services, at a much reduced cost.

The contract was awarded after a competitive tendering process in which the telecoms giant came out on top. It will run for three years and cost a total of 59,272 euros including VAT, compared to the projected of 113,038 euros, which translates into savings of more than 52% every year.

The Councillor of Finance, Innovation and Development, Juan de la Cruz Mena Belmonte is seen in the photograph signing the contract with José Utrera, Head of the Telefonica Territorial area in eastern Andalusia.

“We are well delighted with the savings that the plan will achieve and residents should now note that an increasing number of projects are now being put out to open and fair tender by the new government team and all have full transparency. The intention of the tendering process is to make sure that we get maximum value for our money.”

The councilor added that “in addition to significant savings, which over the three year period will be 172,000 euros, the contract will provide a number of other benefits including installation of fiber optics throughout the council buildings which will improve the speed and the effectiveness of the council systems.
