On the evening of the 6th October our retiring Captain Tony Harwin, hosted the annual presentation dinner and dance in the popular ‘Restaurante Parilla’ Albox.

The proceedings began with Tony presenting, to a round of applause, a beautiful flower arrangement to his wife Sue, as a token of her support during the year.

The presentations began with the prizes for the major competitions throughout the year and it was Steve Gilmore who took the coveted ‘Order of Merit’ prize with 458 points over thirteen games. Just to rub it in he also took the ‘Spring Trophy’ prize for 2012. Mike Doyle reigned supreme in the Captain’s Eclectic competition with an excellent 45 points. The ‘Doubles’ trophy went to Richard Measures and Arthur Davies whilst Dave France took the ‘Singles’ title from Ray Dixon three and two. The ‘Autumn Trophy’ was won convincingly by Mark Newall on 41 points.

Following this the presentation of trophies and other prizes was made to the various divisional winners and runners up of the Captain’s Day competition which took place at the prestigious Hacienda del Alamo golf course near Murcia on the preceding day.

In division one the winner’s trophy went to Tony Hammond with Tony Redston runner up. Third place went to Ray Dixon.

The division two winner’s trophy went to Phil Rylands who also took the pize for overall winner. Runner up trophy went to Colin Waters whilst Adrian Ball took the third place trophy.

Maxine Mayhew showed the men that they could not always have their own way by taking the third division winner’s trophy with Gordon Batchelor collecting the runners up trophy. Gary West took the third place trophy in what was a very high scoring division.

The nearest the pin prizes went to Pete Tapsell, Tom Harris, Andy Ball (twice) Peter Stooke and Mike Doyle.

Tony Harwin ended his duties by handing over to the incoming captain Derek Leonard who thanked Tony on behalf of all present for his hard work throughout the year.
