ALBOX RBL – THANK YOU AND REMINDERS

The Albox Branch of The Royal British Legion would like to thank everyone who supported them in 2012 and wish you all a very Happy & prosperous New Year.

Chairman Peter Phillips said “2012 was an amazing year not just for Albox Branch but The Legion as a whole. The generosity of people to this great cause during a time of such personal hardship for most is heartwarming and greatly appreciated by us all and the people we are able to help as a result. Thank you one and all.”

He went on to remind cash paying members that they now have until the end of January to renew their membership for a mere €21 and they can do so at the monthly meeting on the 17th January at their usual meeting place in La Parrilla hotel & restaurant, by contacting the membership secretary Sandra Tucker on email stucker99@hotmail.co.uk or telephone 608049491 or by speaking to any member of the committee whose details can be found on the Branch web site at www.britishlegion.org.uk/branches/albox

The monthly meeting for January is to be held in the usual venue of La Parrilla and starts at 1100 a.m. This month there is a talk from Peter Phillips on the subject of ‘criminal investigation of child abuse in the 1990’s’ as well as the usual quiz compiled by John Evans and the ever popular raffle and Euro raffle.

The next social event for this busy Branch is a Valentine’s Day buffet and dance at Jack’s Bar in Avenida Le Panto. No prizes for guessing the date….14th February starting at 7.30 p.m. Tickets cost just €10 for members and €11 for non-members. There is to be a salad plate and bread on each table with a buffet-style main course of chicken curry or chilli con carne, both with rice, and a choice of either chocolate torte or lemon meringue pie, both with cream. Diners can then dance the night away to Atlantis.
