FREE STAY AT HOTEL MONTBOLI FOR BLOOD DONORS

The Hotel Servigroup Montíboli is contributing to the Marina Baixa hospital blood donations program by donating a prize of a stay at the hotel.

Nuria Pe Asin, a nurse from the hospital A&E department, is the winner of a stay at the hotel which was given in a prize draw for the participants of the 3rd Blood Donating Marathon which took place on June 10th. It was arranged by the Marina Baixa Hospital in conjunction with the Valencian Community Blood Transfusion Centre.

The prize giving ceremony took place at the Hotel Servigroup Montíboli last week in the presence of the hospital’s director as well as the head of the Valencian Community Blood Donation Service, Dr. Luis Hernández, and the manager of the hotel Manuel J. García.

In order to provide healthcare, the Marina Baixa Hospital needs around 5,000 donations of blood each year, blood from approximately 400 donors per month.

The Hotel Montíboli supports the giving of blood, which is a caring, voluntary, humanitarian gesture which helps to save many lives. The only requirements are to be between 18 and 65 years of age and weigh more than 50 kilos.

In Spain, according to the Blood Transfusion Centre data, around 5,000 donations of blood are produced daily, saving close to 200 lives each day.

However, because of a 1991 European Ruling, regardless of your nationality, if you lived in the UK between 1980 and 1993 you still aren’t allowed to donate blood here in Spain.
