The 1st of July marks the start of the summer sales season in Spain, with many retailers offering huge discounts to shoppers.
The trade expects an “acceptable” summer, and this period could account for 25% of their annual income. The average spend is expected to be 50 euro per person with even more items being allowed a reduction. Previously, all “sale” items had to be sold at their full price for at least a month before the 1st of July, but recent changes implemented by the government now show that items must be advertised full price for “some time” before the date they are marked down.
