One person has suffered serious injuries, with burns to much of his body, in an explosion at the construction site of a petrol filling station in the La Palma area of Cartagena de La Palma.
According to the Emergency Coordination Centre, there was no fire after the explosion, and fire damage has not been reported to the site itself or to any neighbouring buildings.
The emergency services state that the explosion occurred from a seemingly empty tank at the filling station, which is now being investigated.
Two other people were treated at the scene by medics, one of them suffering from considerable shock having thought to have witnessed the incident, the other with a suspect injury to his ear.
