The second generation Schengen Information System (SIS II) was launched in April by the State Secretariat of Security via the Subdirectorate-General for Information and Communication Systems for Security. The system includes 45 million alerts shared by over 1.5 million police officers, border officials and other governmental authorities within the Schengen Area.
