17/09/2013. Spain, a world leader in this field for the last 22 years, continues to be the country where citizens have the greatest opportunity to gain access to a transplant. Almost 4% of all transplants worldwide take place in Spain, where registered donors continue to account for 17% of all donors in the EU.
The World Transplant Registry, which manages the Spanish ONT, says 113,000 transplants were performed worldwide in 2012 – an increase of 5.1%
