Volunteers from San Javier’s Protección Civil held a series of first aid presentations last Saturday in the town’s la plaza de España in which members of the public were encouraged to take part.
The demonstrations provided tuition and basic theoretical and practical information on how they should react to different types of accidents including drowning and choking, as well as treatment to basic wounds and bruises. There was also instruction on how to practice CPR.
Councillor of Security, José Manuel Alarte, who attended many of the workshops stressed the importance of individuals knowing how to react during the first minutes following an accident until the arrival of the emergency services emergency.
Alarte also praised the work of the Civil Defence volunteers in San Javier and how they are able to intervene in situations of need. He said that the members are dedicated to raising awareness on the prevention of accidents as well as necessary first aid care amongst all members of the public, and reaffirmed the council support for the group formed mostly by young people.
