A former editor of the UK newspapers the Daily Star and Sunday Express, Brian Hitchen, has reportedly been killed in a road traffic accident in Altea, along with his wife, Nelly.
Brian´s son-in-law revealed the tragedy saying that the couple were crossing the road when they were hit by a car. Nelly had died at the scene, whereas Brian was taken to hospital suffering various injuries and was placed into a medically induced coma for treatment to leg and shoulder injuries.
Brian was editor of the Daily Star from 1987 to 1994 and was awarded a CBE in 1990; he later became editor of the Sunday Express, before setting up his own company.
