The Torrevieja Costa Lions Club are in full swing with fund raising for the most needy in the Philippine Islands. Since their first fund raiser in association with Sunshine FM at the Emerald Isle on Sunday 17th November, the Lions have held fund raising events at the Footlights Theatre Group production of South Pacific in Teatro Municipal Torrevieja, and held fun race nights in Paddy’s Point La Zenia, Lo Marabu Dona Pepa and The Bog Road Cabo Roig. The Lions have also received sizeable donations from Dance Ranch Line Dancers at the Club in Quesada and Lion Sponsors TV Choice Magazine.
To date the Lions have raised over 4,700.00 euros in the last 19 days, and are on target to pass the 6,000.00 euro mark by the time fund raising for the Philippines closes at the end of the year.
The Philippine Lions are hard at work on the ground helping the most needy with food, shelter and medical supplies and will be there in the long term for years helping rebuild the infrastructure, schools, hospitals and new homes and will need every financial resource available to them.
Readers can offer their support by donating directly to the Torrevieja Costa Lions Club who meet for business on the second Thursday of every month in Hotel Cabo Cervera, La Mata at 1900 hrs. Alternatively you can deposit funds by bank transfer by sending your donation to the Lions bank account at Bankia Cabo Roig, account name – Club de Leones de Torrevieja Costa, IBAN ES88 2038 6012 4460 0014 6853. Every single cent donated is guaranteed to reach the most in need , as the funds are sent directly to the Lions Philippines Disaster fund leaving no opportunity for the funds being mis- directed, unlike many other charitable organisations.
Any individuals or groups wishing to hold a fund raising event in aid of the Philippines can ensure that any funds raised go to those most in need, can do so by banking as directed above, but to guarantee they receive the appropriate receipt and recognition should contact Lions Club Secretary Iain Bennett by e mail on idsbennett@hotmail.co.uk or by phoning Iain on 966 731 495 with details of their event.
