Fire in Catral Shoe Factory Causes Extensive Damage
Fire fighters spent hours tackling a blaze at a shoe factory in Catral on Saturday, as flames swept through the building causing extensive damage.
Numerous fire fighting units were called in to assist in the incident, as the flames were tackled from both the ground and from an aerial platform.
A wedding was being celebrated in a neighbouring unit and fireworks were set off during those celebrations. An investigation is underway but investigators are considering if a firework may have started the blaze, as this has been known to have happened before.
Smoke could be seen for miles around as the fire became controlled about 3 hours after the first alert.
