Aside from celebrating the birthday of Elefanta Petita this weekend in the Terra Natura park in Benidorm, the sister centre in Murcia has this week celebrated welcoming their half a millionth visitor since they opened in 2007.

Last year alone the animal park was visited by 240,000 people, 30% of whom are foreigners, and in the first seven months of this year the figure has been 150,000 people.

The park owners have invested 24 million euro for maintenance and improvements to the park which is now considered one of the main tourist attractions and leisure facilities in the region of Murcia, according to park manager, Gustavo Martínez.
