The rotting corpse of a 3-metre long shark washed up on the beach in Torrevieja at the weekend.
The bluntnose sixgill shark is common in the waters around the area but is rarely seen near the coast as the live in deep water.
Fully grown, the shark can reach up to 5 metres in length, and so this specimen was relatively young.
The body was removed and disposed of by the municipal cleaners.
