Mar Menor’s skies will be filled this Sunday with the talents of the locally-based Eagle Patrol, who start the formal celebration of their 30th anniversary over the next year with a series of special events. As reported in last week’s Courier, Spain’s answer to the Red Arrows will stage a special display over the San Javier area from 10.00am through till 3.00pm, with the help of top French and Italian display teams. The event, based at their headquarters at Santiago de La Ribera, will be screened live on the regional 7RM TV channel, as well as streamed via the San Javier council website. Three large car parks will be made available in Avenida Carrero Blanco area of Santiago, which will be formally re-named on Saturday evening at 7.00pm as Avenida Patrulla Acrobática Águila(Acrobatic Eagle Patrol). An Open Day will also take place on the Saturday with a shuttle bus service operating from the main area car parks to the Eagle Patrol base. Patrol members went to the Town Hall on Tuesday to formal sign the municipality’s Book of Honour.
