A 91 year old woman was arrested on New Year´s Day, charged with murder, after the police were called to attend an altercation at her home in the northern Spanish town of Bilbao.
The woman had called the emergency services at around 11:00 on Friday, reporting that she had just stabbed her sister.
When the police arrived they found the body of the woman´s 86 year old sister with a stab wound to her neck. The perpetrator had also tried to harm herself and was taken to hospital for treatment.
An investigation is being carried out although it is believed that the incident was the result of an argument between the two sisters.
