The public walkway on the beach of Cabo Roig is scheduled to reopen in July, after the work which was previously set for Easter completion was postponed.
The tender for the 281,000 euro renovation has now closed and the contract set to be awarded with the work commencing at the end of this month.
Following a series of landslides and falling rock incidents, the walkway was closed to the public and will now have the walls strengthened and supported and will consist of the dismantling and removal of various pieces in order to obtain a uniform slope, and placing a wire mesh with rock anchors to ensure stability, in order to prevent possible landslides in the future.
The work was announced in November but had to be delayed due to “bureaucratic intervention and procedures”, according to the town hall.
