In the second major incident of the year, fire fighters battled to extinguish a fire at the “Don Camilo” pizza restaurant in Los Balcones, Torrevieja, on Tuesday night.
The owner of the restaurant raised the alarm having seen the premises on fire but was unable to act due to the ferocity of the blaze.
Fire fighters from Torrevieja were immediately dispatched, supported by colleagues from Almoradí, who collectively used 25,000 litres of water to fight the fire over a three-hour period.
In the early hours of New Year´s day, two people were killed in a house fire in the Torreta II urbanisation.
