Significant Drop in Spain’s Unemployment Rate in Last Month

Spain’s unemployment rate fell by just 48 thousand between February and March, according to official figures published on Tuesday. The total number of people registered on the dole now stands at 3.7 million, which is a fall of over 392 thousand over a year.

The number out of work in Alicante Province is just below 167 thousand, down by seven percent over a year, whilst the Murcia region figure is at 114 thousand, a 10 percent fall compared to March 2016.  

The country was badly by the recession with unemployment reaching a high of over six million back in 2013.
