Three people have been killed when a light aircraft crashed in the Malaga town of Canillas de Aceituno.

The incident occurred at around 16:30 on Saturday afternoon when the plane, which was flying from Muchamiel (Alicante) to Granada, crashed into a field after the pilot reportedly lost control of the aircraft.

Having lost contact with the aircraft, emergency services were dispatched to try to locate it, including a helicopter, mountain rescue and the Guardia Civil who found the crashed plane at around 20:00.

The emergency services could do nothing other than confirming the deaths of the three people on board.
