Seven people have drowned across the Comunitat Valenciana in the first 4 months of the year, according to the National Drowning Report from the Spanish Royal Federation of Rescue and Rescuers.
The Valencia figure represents 6.3% of the total number of deaths across the country, where a total of 111 people have died.
According to the data, the most likely person to die through drowning is a man over 35-years of age, who drowns at the beach, most likely one without surveillance, during daylight hours.
Overall, the drownings not only occur at the beach but in swimming pools, rivers and lakes.
