Firefighters rescued a paraglider on Wednesday after he ended trapped a hundred metres above the ground after trying to jump from the Sierra de Redován, in Alicante.

The 21-year-old male, a resident of Albacete, was taken to the Hospital de la Vega Baja, according to the Provincial Consortium, after trying to jump off the cliff top when the wind caught his parachute, leaving him hitched on the cliffside, a 100 metres up and 60 metres down.
Several people called the 112 emergency coordination centre at around eleven in the morning, who dispatched a rescue helicopter “Alpha 1” and two vehicles from Orihuela (Alicante).
A rescue team member abseiled to the man and secured a harness onto him, enabling the helicopter to lift him to safety.
After the two-hour ordeal, the man was said to be shaken and in a state of nervousness, but otherwise unharmed, the hospital visit being a precautionary measure.
