Bomb disposal officers from the Tedax group of the National Police attended Alcoy this week after a mortar shell was found amongst some weeds.
The device was found in the undergrowth and was said to be “very rusty”, but explosive experts took no chances in making sure the bomb was safe.
Although the age and origin is unknown, the hypothesis is that it has been sat in its dormant state since the civil war.
