Appearing in Valencia, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, stated that the goal of having 70 percent of the population vaccinated throughout the summer “is within reach” thanks to the increase in the shipment of vaccine doses in the last week, and with the forecast that Spain will receive around 300,000 doses of the new Janssen vaccine from April 15, since it only requires one dose.

Despite the advance in vaccination, the minister has asked for “caution” in the face of the “clear rise” in the number of infections in all the autonomous communities, in the absence of seeing the data of the last holidays of Holy Week, since figures are only available until Saturday.

Asked if Spain is in the fourth wave of the pandemic, Darias has asked for time to analyse the data during this week and recalled that now there are other elements different from the previous peaks: the natural immunization of the population, that achieved by the vaccine and the effects that the San José bridge and Holy Week will have. “We have to see if a new wave arrives or not,” she said.
