The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has advised that on Wednesday the first doses of the Janssen vaccine will arrive in Spain, which only requires one dose, and has called for calm to the people who have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The forecasts of the Ministry of Health is that Spain will receive up to 5.5 million vials of the Janssen jab between April and June. On Monday morning, the minister declared that the vaccine will arrive in our country this Wednesday. «In principle, it will be applied in accordance with the latest update of the vaccination strategy in the same typology as the RNA ones; that is to say, that we will be converging from 80 years downwards,” said Darias last Saturday.

Regarding the Janssen vaccine, Darias explained that the Government of Spain is hand in hand with the European Medicines Agency and that we must see what the agency itself says about it.

The head of the branch has highlighted this Monday the increase in the rate of vaccination in Spain during the second quarter of the year, since it is expected the reception of 38 million doses – compared to 10 million in the first quarter – of the vaccines approved by the EU, which will be joined from this Wednesday by Janssen.
