The autonomous communities will receive more than 2 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19, a new record in the Vaccination Campaign, since, as highlighted by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, is the first time that this amount has been distributed in a single day.

Starting today, April 26 and every Monday in May, an average of 1.7 million Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine doses will arrive in Spain, thus increasing the response capacity against the virus. In addition, Darias explained, today more than 188,000 doses of Moderna and more than 103,000 of AstraZeneca vaccines are being distributed throughout the country.

From La Rioja, Darias stressed that the arrival of vaccines allows to boost the pace of the immunisation plan, underlining that the milestones are being possible thanks to the joint work of citizens, health professionals, the Autonomous Communities and also thanks to the Advance Purchase Strategy of the European Union and the Government of Spain, which are making “an unprecedented effort.”

In a statement, the minister has pointed out the importance in the fight against the virus that the 80-year-old group has practically received the complete guideline and that this age group can be completed this week. Likewise, she specified, the vaccination process has achieved more people with a complete schedule than people with reported contagion.

Minister Darias held a meeting this morning with the President of the Government of La Rioja, Concha Andreu, to whom she thanked both today’s welcome and her commitment and work for citizens. Subsequently, together with the Minister of Health, Sara Alba, she has travelled to the Riojaforum in Logroño, enabled as a vaccination point since April 6, and to the ‘Riofarco’ Pharmaceutical Laboratory, in the neighbouring town of Villamediana de Iregua, to receive vaccines.

“My thanks to the Minister of Health and her entire team for their daily work and every Wednesday at the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System. We are all committed to ending the pandemic and to the campaign of hope, that of vaccination, “said Darias.

The Riojaforum vaccination point is located in a privileged natural environment, in the Ebro park and citizens of Logroño between 70 and 79 years of age are currently attending, after concluding the age group of over 80 from the capital, as has explained Héctor Ruiz, general director of Emergencies and Civil Protection.

During the tour, the minister and the counsellor greeted several nursing professionals from the Noemí Marauri centre, Nursing Director of Primary Care, who coordinates the nursing teams both in Riojaforum and in the special devices enabled in all Basic Health Zones , as well as at home and in residences for the elderly and the disabled.

At this vaccination point there is a differentiated entry and exit circuit and ten enabled cabins and a ‘rest’ area where they remain for 15 minutes to ensure that they do not suffer discomfort after receiving the dose.
