The Government has extended until December 26 the mandatory quarantine for passengers arriving by flight from any airport located in African countries at high risk for coronavirus to any Spanish airport, with or without intermediate stopovers. In addition, due to the proximity to the affected countries, they have initially included Malawi and Zambia in this list of countries.
This is stated in the order published this Friday in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which indicates that the conditions that motivated the adoption of these measures are maintained on November 26 before the appearance of the new Omicron variant in several southern countries from Africa. Now, in addition to the two previous countries, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe remain at high risk.
This order, which will come into effect at 00:00 hours on December 13, will remain until the 26, and may be extended if the circumstances that motivate it are maintained.
