The Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (Cehat) has shown its dismay over the regulations of the Government and the European Commission to require British children between 12 and 16 years of age to have the complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19, which has produced “tens of thousands of cancellations of reservations in Spain by the British.”
In a statement, the association has pointed out the incoherence and the devastating effect of this measure, since the vaccination of children began barely a few weeks ago, so “there is no time for two vaccines to be given in that period and there are many holiday destinations (the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean coast and some cities) that were in great demand for family tourism at this winter time “.
The Confederation does not understand that a child from other Schengen countries with a higher incidence of Covid cases than the United Kingdom can enter Spain without being vaccinated, but presenting an antigen test.
For Cehat, restricting the entry of children from the United Kingdom to Spain this Christmas means that many British families will not come to the country.
In fact, the association has stressed that this is already being reflected in a disastrous way in the reservations since they have fallen by 60% week by week and one of the main British operators has already seen some 60,000 reservations affected due to this measure.
