Exports from the Community maintain the upward trend and exceed figures prior to the pandemic with 26,374.9 million euro

Exports of the Valencian Community have reached a value of 26,374.9 million euro in the first ten months of the year, which represents an increase of 13.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data made public by the Directorate Territory of Commerce of the Valencian Community dependent on the Secretary of State for Commerce.

 

The Minister of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labour, Rafa Climent, explained that “the upward trend in exports continues, surpassing export records for the historical series”.

 

“It is a very positive figure that shows the enormous effort that companies are making to promote and sell their products abroad, at a complex time like the current one,” he said.

 

In the period January – October, the three provinces register increases in their exports. In the case of Alicante, exports are estimated at 5,070.9 million euro, with an increase of 20%, Castellón records sales worth 7,098 million euro with a 19% increase while Valencia grows 8.9% and reaches a value of 14,206 million euro.

 

By sectors, the agri-food industry maintains the leadership of the Community’s exports with a value of 5,628.2 million euro and an increase of 10.2%, followed by the chapter of non-chemical semi-manufactures, with a value of 4,598.3 million euro and an increase of 25.8%. Ceramic products – included in semi-manufactures – experienced an increase of 24.5% in this period.

 

In third place is the chapter of chemical products, with 3,771.9 million euro and an increase of 14.3%. It is followed by the capital goods chapter, with 3,583.2 million euro and with a notable upward trend that stands at 40.1% in this period.

 

They are followed by the automotive industry, with 3,668.8 million euro and a decrease of 19%. Consumer manufactures registered a value of 2,745.4 million euro and increased by 21.1% in the analysed period.

 

By geographical areas

 

By destinations, exports from the Valencian Community to the EU in January-October 2021 amounted to 15,176.2 million euro, which represents an increase of 12.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. In this area, France and Germany top the ranking, with increases of 13.7% and 1% respectively.

 

Exports to the rest of Europe also rose by 7.8%. In the case of the United Kingdom, the rise stood at 6.5%. Exports to America grow 18.5%, (11.1% North America and 37.6% Latin America). Asia also grew by 17.7% with a notable increase in China of 42.8%. Exports to Africa increased in this period by 14.6%.
