The Valencian Institute of Business Competitiveness (Ivace), dependent on the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labour, has received a total of 1,700 applications until November to access aid for the purchase of sustainable, pure electric and plug-in vehicles , which came into force at the end of last July.

These grants are part of the Moves III Plan, which in the Valencian Community is managed by Ivace Energía, and which in this third edition triples its budget compared to the second call in our territory, with a total of 30 million euro compared to 10, 5 million in 2020. For these requests, the Ivace plans to allocate 6.8 million euro, that is, 22.8% of the total budget.

The amount of the aid varies depending on the type of vehicle purchased and the applicant and it is the dealers themselves who adhere to this program who are in charge of the processing to obtain the aid. To date, about 200 dealerships from all over the Valencian territory have joined.

Most of the requests received to date, 748, correspond to the purchase of pure electric passenger cars, followed by 706 for the purchase of plug-in hybrid passenger cars, 211 electric motorcycles, 21 electric vans and 20 electric quadricycles.

The applications received so far will allow energy savings of 158 tons of oil equivalent per year, which will mean that 431 tons of CO2 will no longer be emitted into the atmosphere each year.

As regards the profile of the applicants, most are private individuals. Thus, of the 1,706 grants requested to date, 1,426 are from private citizens, 242 correspond to SMEs, 21 to large companies and 17 to entities.

The fundamental objective, according to the Minister of Sustainable Economy, Rafa Climent, “is to encourage the purchase of vehicles that use alternative energy to conventional, especially electric to reduce emissions of polluting gases, improve air quality, at the same time that supposes an important stimulus for the sector “.

The head of economy has shown his satisfaction for the good reception that the program is having and has emphasised that society is increasingly showing “greater awareness of the need to move towards more sustainable mobility and the demand for sustainable vehicles is growing in a very important way. ”

Thus, Ivace Energía subsidises the direct acquisition or through financing operations by financial leasing or leasing by renting (also called operating leasing) of new alternative energy vehicles.

To access the aid, they must contact one of the dealers or points of sale that are part of the program; These will be the ones who will process the aid electronically.

For the holder of Sustainable Economy, the promotion of sustainable urban mobility “involves giving priority to the cleanest and most efficient modes of transport and it is essential to promote the renewal of the fleet of vehicles that use fossil fuels towards those that are powered by alternative energies. , in particular electric vehicles “.

Amount of aid

The amounts vary depending on the type of vehicle, the applicant (self-employed individuals and entities, SMEs or large companies) and whether or not there is scrapping of an old vehicle. Thus, financial aid of 7,000 euro is granted for individuals, the self-employed and entities that purchase pure electric vehicles and 5,000 euro for plug-in hybrids. If a vehicle is not scrapped, the aid for the purchase of a pure electric vehicle will amount to 4,500 euro and 2,500 for plug-ins.

In the case of electric motorcycles, the incentive can reach 1,300 euro with scrapping and 1,100 euro without sending a vehicle to scrap.

The price of the electric vehicle cannot exceed 45,000 euro, with the exception of electric models with eight or nine seats, which may reach 53,000 euro. In the case of electric motorcycles, their price may not exceed 10,000 euro.

Likewise, the purchase of electric vans by self-employed professionals will be subsidized with up to 9,000 euro in case the user scraps his old vehicle and with up to 7,000 in case they do not.

In addition, the Moves III program provides aid of an additional 10% to actions in municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants, both for the installation of charging infrastructures in these territories and for the purchase of vehicles by people who are registered in them. It also provides an extra 10% for the help that people with reduced mobility receive.

Budget and deadlines

The aid for the acquisition of electric vehicles has a budget of 30 million euro until 2023 and will contribute to advance in the diversification of energy sources in transport, with the consequent reduction of dependence on petroleum products. For the installation of electric recharging points, the publication of the call is scheduled for the next few days and will have a budget of 10.5 million euro.
